Moraitika Beach is a popular sand beach in the homonymous seaside village of Moraitika, on the east coast of southern Corfu. The beach stretches along a wide bay, from the small river that separates the village from Mesongi in the south to the northern outskirts of the village.
How To Get To Moraitika Beach
Moraitika Beach is situated right in front of the village of Moraitika and can be reached on foot, with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat, or by public transport.
On foot, the beach is a 200-500 meter walk from the main road, depending on where you start. There are several roads and walking paths that lead to the beach. To get there from the neighboring Mesongi Beach, you’ll need to walk back to the main road first in order to cross the river.
By car, Moraitika Beach is a 7-kilometer drive from Benitses, 20 kilometers from Corfu Town, and 22 kilometers from the Port of Lefkimmi. There is no parking lot at the beach, so you’ll need to find a space to park in any of the streets leading to the beach, or elsewhere in the village.
You can also get to Moraitika Beach by public transport and there are several bus stops along the main road in the village. Multiple Green Bus lines connect Moraitika with Corfu Town and other villages in southern Corfu, including B1 (Kavos), B2 (Petriti), B5 (Agios Georgios Argyrades), B6 (Issos) and B7 (Mesongi).
Beach Description
Moraitika Beach is oriented towards the eastern and slighly northeastern directions and looks out at the mainland of Greece on the horizon. The beach has a total length of approximately 1.5 kilometers and runs between the northern side of the village until the southern edge at the Mesongi River. The width of the beach varies between 5 and 15 meters.
The beach and seabed have a combination of sand and fine pebbles, although some parts are more pebbly, and other parts more sandy. The seabed has a gentle slope and for the first few meters, the bathing water remains shallow. The only potential source of pollution comes from the Mesongi River which flows into the sea at the southern end of the beach, but any pollution is rare and usually short lived. The water is usually very clear and perfectly blue, while also calm so it’s perfect for swimming.
The area behind the beach is entirely developed with resort hotels and other guest accommodations, bars and restaurants, but there are also some trees and other sporadic green vegetation.
Moraitika is an immensely popular holiday resort town so the beach can be extremely busy in the summer. At the same time, this brings a vibrant atmosphere to the beach and town, and you can find all the amenities you need for a great beach holiday.

Moraitika Beach is fully organized and has many facilities, including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, toilets, trash bins. The large and popular beach also has a large variety of beach bars and restaurants, offering anything from fast food to fine dining, including Greek and international dishes.
You can also find a variety of water sports at Moraitika Beach, including inflatable rides, pedal boats, peddle boards, and an inflatable water park. You can also rent small motor boats there.
