Mirtiotissa Beach is located just outside the popular seaside village of Glyfada, on the west coast of central Corfu. The beach is named after the nearby Mirtiotissa Monastery and is popular among nudists.
How To Get To Mirtiotissa Beach
Mirtiotissa Beach is situated in a bay about 500 meters northwest of Glyfada, and can best be reached with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat.
By car, it’s still a 4-kilometer drive from Glyfada to Mirtiotissa Beach as you have to drive around the hills. From Corfu Town, it’s a 16-kilometer drive. There’s no parking lot at the beach, but you probably won’t have a problem finding a spot along the road, albeit maybe a bit further towards the monastery.
There is no public transport to Mirtiotissa Beach.
Beach Description
The entire coastline around Mirtiotissa Beach is natural without any construction. The beach is oriented towards the southwestern direction and only has some shade in the early hours of the morning.
The beach has a length of approximately 90 meters, and an average width of about 10 meters. The beach and seabed are sandy, with some sparse rocks. The seabed has a gentle slope and for the first few meters, the bathing water remains shallow. The water is crystal clear and beautifully turquoise so it’s perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
The surroundings of the beach are beautiful, with some rocky hills behind the beach, giving it a somewhat secluded character, especially the southern part of the beach, which is situated below the road leading to the beach.
Despite being so close to the bustling beach life of the popular Glyfada Beach, Mirtiotissa Beach is completely out of sight from there and relatively quiet.
The beach is mostly popular among nudists and other nature lovers who like the natural surroundings and secluded character of the beach, while it’s still easily accessible by car.
Facilities At Mirtiotissa Beach
Mirtiotissa Beach is unorganized and has no facilities. However, there’s a taverna near the beach, and during the busy summer months, there might be a pop-up bar selling drinks at the beach. But other than that, you’ll need to bring your own umbrella and other stuff you need. Bringing plenty of water is always wise.
