Gouvia Beach is situated in the homonymous Gouvia Bay, in the popular seaside village of Gouvia, on the northwestern outskirts of the commune of Corfu Town. The beach is very popular among all ages.
How To Get To Gouvia Beach
Gouvia Beach is located in the center of Gouvia and can easily be reached with your own transportation, like a rental car or scooter, or by taxi or public transport. From the center of Corfu Town, it’s a 15 to 20-minute drive, depending on traffic. Free parking is available at the beach and in the nearby streets, but in the busy summer season it can be hard to find a spot close by if you don’t arrive early.
To get to Gouvia Beach by public transport, you can take Corfu City Bus line 4 which stops on the main road, from where it is a 350-meter walk to the beach. To get back to Corfu Town, you can take either line 4 or 7 from the bus stop across the main road. Several of the long-distance Green Buses also pass by Gouvia.
Beach Description
Gouvia Beach has a length of 230 meters and an average width of 10 meters, part of which is sandy and part is pebbled and rocky. The seabed has a gentle slope and for the first few meters, the water is shallow. The beach is oriented towards the northeast and from the beach, you can see the Ypapanti Church on the other side of the bay.
The coast itself is natural, but the surrounding area is urbanized with hotels, restaurants, and shops. Next to the beach you can visit the Serbian Monument and the remains of a Venetian Shipyard.
Facilities At Gouvia Beach
Gouvia Beach is organized and has a variety of facilities, including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, beach bars, restaurants, showers, and trash bins. Water sports are also available, including peddle boas and jet skis.
Due its proximity to the center of Gouvia, there are also many restaurants and shops nearby.
