The Boschetto Garden is a small public garden between Spianada Square and the Old Fortress in Corfu Town.
Boschetto is Italian for “grove” and the garden is a beautiful place for a stroll. The rectangular space is symmetrically designed in the Italian Renaissance style and is filled with flowers and plants. The park has two entrances, with the main one on Agoniston Polytechneiou Street and a smaller one to the north, next to the Mandrakina Church. Inside the park, there is a fountain and there are several semicircular stone benches which are surrounded by a collonade. There are also several busts and statues of prominent historic figures, including the heroic poet Lorentzos Vavilis (1860-1912), the important story writer Konstantinos Theotokis (1872-1923), and the English Philhellene and founder of the Ionian Academy, Count Frederick Guilford (1766-1827).
On the northern side of Boschetta Garden there’s a small children’s playground. From the garden you can also have a great view at the moat of the Old Fortress and if you enjoy the garden, you should also take the northern exit and walk into the People’s Garden.
