Alykes Potamos Beach is a large beach in Potamos, a suburb northwest of Corfu Town. The beach is located to the west of the Potamos River mouth.
How To Get To Alykes Potamos Beach
Alykes Potamos Beach is located about 300-400 meters away from Road no. 24 (Corfu Town-Paleokastritsas) and can be reached by foot, car, boat, or public transport.
Corfu City Bus lines 4 and 7 stop at the main road from where you’d have to follow a small path through the forest for about 300 meters to get to the public beach or follow the road to the Kerkyra Blue Hotel N’ Spa which has a private beach area.
Beach Description
Alykes Potamos Beach faces the Ionian Sea in the northern direction and has a length of 520 meters and an average width of 5 meters. The seabed is sandy and has a gentle slope so the first few meters have a normal depth. The water is very clear and suitable for swimming.
The only potential risks of pollution come from tankers that are docking to refuel at the liquid fuel facilities to the east of the beach, and from the river that flows into the sea to the west. Pollution is rare and is usually short-lived.
Facilities At Alykes Potamos Beach
The eastern part of the beach is unorganized and has no facilities. The western part around the Kerkyra Blue Hotel N’ Spa is organized and has sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, a bar and restaurant, toilet facilities, and water sports like pedal boats and motor boats for rent.
