Almyros Beach is a long and wide sand beach near Acharavi, on the north coast of Corfu. The beach is situated between Acharavi Beach, of which it is a continuation, and the mouth of the Antinioti Lagoon.
How To Get To Almyros Beach
Almyros Beach is located slightly north of Acharavi in the north of Corfu and can be reached with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat, or by public transport. You can also take a beach walk from Acharavi Beach to Almyros Beach since both beaches are simply a continuation of each other.
By car, Almyros Beach is an 11-kilometer drive from Kassiopi, 16 kilometers from Sidari, and 40 kilometers from Corfu Town. Ample free parking can be found at the beach, especially the more north you go.
There is no public transport directly to Almyros Beach, but there is a bus stop on Road 2217 Tzavrou-Kassiopi-Sidari, about 1 kilometer off the beach. Green Bus line A3 connects Acharavi with Corfu Town. Line S5 between Kassiopi and Sidari also stops here, but only runs during the summer season.
Beach Description
Almyros Beach is oriented towards the northwestern direction and stretches out over a length of roughly 2 kilometers. The same beach continues in southern direction as Acharavi Beach and Roda Beach but but there’s no strict definition of where one beach ends and the next one starts. The entire beach strip measures a length of 5.4 kilometers, making it one of the largest beaches in Corfu.
Almyros Beach has an average width of about 20 meters. The beach and seabed are mostly sandy. The seabed has a gentle slope and the first few meters of the bathing water are shallow. Behind the beach there is some vegetation, especially in the northern section, while the southern part is more developed.
There is ample space at Almyros Beach, making it a quieter alternative to the busier beaches of Acharavi and Roda. The beach is also ideal for beach activities and for families with kids.
Facilities At Almyros Beach
Almyros Beach is partly organized and has several facilities including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, trash bins, bars, and restaurants. The northern part of the beach is the least developed, while the southern part closest to Acharavi is the most developed part. Water sports can also be found in the southern part.
