To get around the island you need some form of transportation, so here is everything you need to know about transportation in Corfu.

By Bus

Corfu has an extensive bus network which gets you around the entire island and the fair prices are very reasonable, so this is the cheapest mode of transportation. The Green Buses are the intercity buses between the different parts of the island. The Green Bus Terminal is the main intercity bus station located in Corfu Town. The Blue Buses are the city buses in and around Corfu Town. Line 15 goes from Corfu International Airport via the Corfu City Bus Station in the center of Corfu Town to Corfu Port and vice versa. Both the Green and Blue Buses have with free wifi on board.

By Taxi

A taxi is the most convenient way to get around, especially when you’re carrying around your luggage and want to get to your hotel or the airport quickly. Taxi ranks can be found at the airport, Corfu Port, and at several places in Corfu Town. However it’s good to understand the seasonality of the taxi business on Corfu as well. During the peaks of the summer months, demand for taxis goes through the roof, while there is very little demand during out of the season. Many taxi companies and drivers therefore only operate during the summer, while they have other jobs during the rest of the year. But despite the adaption of the supply of taxis, it might be harder to get a taxi whenever you want during the summer months. If you are dependend on the availability of a ride because you have to catch your flight or ferry, you are better off scheduling your transfer in advance.

Ridesharing Apps

Ridesharing app Uber has recently become available in Corfu, but it works a bit different compared to what you’re probably used to. In most countries Uber offers rides with private drivers which are usually cheaper than taxis. However, in Corfu you can only book licensed taxis via the Uber app. Other ridesharing apps like Lyft or Bolt are not available in Corfu.

By Private Transfer

In stead of hailing a taxi, or waiting in the taxi queue at the airport, you can also book a private transfer to your accommodation. This way you don’t have to worry about getting a taxi, arranging cash, or haggling about the price as a designated driver will be waiting for you upon arrival at the airport or at the ferry port to bring you directly to your destination anywhere on the island at a fixed price. You can book your transfer here, including a return back to the airport or ferry port.

By Rental Car

A great and convenient way to discover the island of Corfu and visit different beaches and attractions, is by renting a car. This gives you optimal flexibility to go when and where you want during your holiday. Car rental is available at Corfu International Airport and at Corfu Port, but it’s recommended to search for the best deals online and book upfront as early as possible, especially if you plan to visit Corfu during the summer months. Prices and availability are very seasonal, so prices go up in the summer months, while you can get true bargain prices in the off-season. The earlier you book, the better the prices usually.

By Boat

Since Corfu is an island, you can also get around by boat as Corfu has several marinas and some amazing places for swimming or snorkeling. This is most useful if you either have your own boat, book a boat tour, or want to visit the other Ionian Islands, like Paxos, Antipaxos, Vido, or even the tiny islet called Mouse Island (Pontikonisi).

Book At Tour

A tour is by far the most convenient and hands-off way to enjoy your holiday on Corfu while you let others take care about how and where to get. You just show up at the agreed pickup point, like your hotel front desk, and enjoy the day, either with other tourists, or with you own private group.
