Petriti Beach is located in the charming fishing village of Petriti, on the west coast of southern Corfu. The beach stretches out along the bay to the south of the fishing port and for a small part to the north of the port.
How To Get To Petriti Beach
Petriti Beach is situated right in front of the village of Petriti and can be reached on foot, with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat, or by public transport.
By car, Petriti Beach is a 28-kilometer drive from Corfu Town and 15 kilometers from the Port of Lefkimmi. There’s a parking area at the Petriti Marina.
You can also get to Petriti Beach by public transport. Green Bus line B2 connects the village with Corfu Town.
Beach Description
Petriti Beach is oriented towards the eastern and northeastern directions and looks out at Lefkimmi Bay with the mainland of Greece on the horizon.
The largest and most popular part of the beach stretches out between the marina and the southern end of the bay and has a length of approximately 400 meters and an average width of 10 meters. Around the corner to the north of the port, there’s another stretch with a length of 200 meters and an average width of 5 meters.
The beach and seabed have a combination of sand and pebbles. The seabed has a gentle slope and for the first few meters, the bathing water is shallow.
The only potential source of pollution comes from the small stream that flows into the sea in the center of the bay, but pollution is rare and usually short lived. In general the water is very clear and calm, providing the perfect conditions for swimming.
The coast around Petriti Beach has a lot of green vegetation and the area is surrounded by green hills. The quiet village and green surroundings provide a perfect atmosphere for relaxing, away from the crowds at busier beaches.
Facilities At Petriti Beach
Petriti Beach is only partly organized in the area south of the port. There you can find several facilities including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, trash bins, and a few beach tavernas serving food and drinks.
