Perama Beach is a small pebbly beach in the seaside village of Perama, on the east coast of central Corfu.
How To Get To Perama Beach
Perama Beach is situated in the village of Perama, about 4 kilometers south of Corfu Town. It can be reached on foot, with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat, or by public transport.
By car, Perama Beach is an 8-kilometer drive from the center of Corfu Town because you need to drive around the Halikiopoulou Lagoon. There is no parking lot at the beach, so you’ll have to park somewhere along the road. On foot, you can also reach Perama via the footbridge from Kanoni.
It’s also very easy to get to Perama Beach by public transport, as several buses stop nearby. The easiest and most frequent route is Corfu City Bus line 6 between Corfu Town and Benitses, but several southbound Green Buses also pass through Perama.
From the road, a concrete staircase leads down to the public part of the beach. The southern part of the bay is exploited by hotels which have their own entrance.
Beach Description
Perama Beach is oriented towards the eastern direction and has some shade in the afternoon. The beach spans across a small bay over a length of approximately 250 meters. The beach is very narrow with an average width of less than 5 meters, although the private part of the beach in the south has some more space.
The beach and seabed are pebbled and the seabed has a relatively steep slope, so the bathing water gets deep quickly. The beach is secluded from the road by dense vegetation.
Perama Beach might not be the nicest beach for sunbathing, but it’s a good place for swimming that is easily reachable from Corfu Town.
Facilities At Perama Beach
Perama Beach is mostly unorganized without any facilities like sunbeds or umbrellas. However, on the southern side of the bay, where Hotel Oasis is located, there is a bar-restaurant and a sundeck with loungers.
