The Panagiopoula Church is a Greek Orthodox church in the southern part of the historic center of Corfu Town, around the corner from the Ionian Parliament and the Serbian Museum. The church is a so-called metochi – a dependency – of the Platytera Monastery to the west of the old town and is dedicated to the Virgin Mother Odigitria.
The Panagiopoula Church was constructed in the first half of the 17th century and was initially a private chapel that belonged to the Dedotsi family. The church changed hands several times until it was finally bought by a monk of the Platytera Monastery around 1900. The church is located on a narrow street and consists of a chapel, an adjacent two-story building, and a bell tower. Inside you can admire the holy icon of Odigitria which dates back to the time of the foundation of the church.
The Panagiopoula Church has two important celebrations each year: the Epitaph procession on Good Friday and the Odigitria festival on August 23rd.
