Beach Description
Marathias Beach is oriented towards the southwestern direction and has no shade all day. The beach stretches out over a length of approximately 1.2 kilometers, with a width varying between 15 and 50 meters.
The beach continues in the northern direction as Agios Georgios Argyrades Beach and to the south as Santa Barbara Beach, although the names of Marathias and Santa Barabara are sometimes used interchangeably for the same beach. To make things more confusing, some locals also refer to this beach as Malta Beach.
The beach and seabed of Marathias Beach are sandy and the seabed has a gentle slope. For the first few meters, the bathing water has a normal depth. The water is great for swimming as it is crystal clear and only has some smaller waves.
Marathias Beach is popular for its endless golden sand, beautiful blue-colored waters, and its relatively undevelopped surroundings with green hills. Apart from sunbathing and swimming, it’s also great for long beach walks and watching the sunset.
Facilities At Marathias Beach
Only the southern part of Marathias Beach is organized and has several facilities, including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, trash bins, and several beach bars and restaurants.
There are also water sports, including an inflatable water park, stand-up-peddling, and other fun activities.
