Limni Beach is a unique twin beach near the village of Liapades, on the west coast of central Corfu. The beach is situated on a narrow strip of land that connects a rocky peninsula with the mainland.
How To Get To Limni Beach
Limni Beach is located in an undeveloped, natural area about 2 kilometers from the village of Liapades, and can only be reached on foot or by boat.
Overland, you can get near the beach with a private vehicle, like a rental car, or scooter, but there’s no public transport. By car, Limni Beach is a 6-kilometer drive from Paleokastritsa and 21 kilometers from Corfu Town.
From Liapades, a narrow, but asphalted road leads in the direction of the beach. Once you get nearby, the road bends to the left and continues parallel to the coast. You need to continue past the beach until you see a small path on your right-hand side. You can park alongside the road and from there, it’s a 500-meter walk to Limni Beach.
A path also connects Limni Beach with Klimatia Beach, another secluded beach in a small bay just around the corner.
Beach Description
Limni Beach is a unique twin beach between a rocky peninsula and the mainland. The beach is oriented towards the northern and southern directions and has a length of approximately 35 meters, and an average width of about 10 meters.
The beach and seabed are covered with pebbles and some larger stones and rocks. On the southern side, the seabed has a gentle slope with shallow waters for the first few meters. On this side there are also more large stones and rocks so be careful not to hurt your feet there.
On the northern side, the seabed has a steeper slope, so the water gets deeper much more quickly. On both sides, the water is beautifully turqoise and crystal clear, but the deeper waters on the northern side are more ideal for swimming.
The coast around Limni Beach is completely natural without any visible constructions. The coastline of the mainland as well as the peninsula are rocky with dense vegetation.
Apart from swimming and sunbathing, you can also walk up the concrete staircase to discover the peninsula from where you have great views of the surroundings.
The beautiful location and unique characteristics make Limni Beach a popular destination for day trips or as a short stop on a boat trip, so the beach can get rather crowded in the summer.
Facilities At Limni Beach
Limni Beach is semi-organized and has some limited facilities. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, but there are no other facilities such as bars or restaurants, so you need to make sure to bring your own drinks and snacks for a beach day.
There is also a small jetty so small boats can moor here as the unique beach is a popular stop for boat trips.
