Kavos Beach is the southeasternmost beach on the island of Corfu, situated in the popular resort town of Kavos. The beach is sandy and stretches along the entire village with many amenities, including water sports, beach parties, and a great nightlife.
How To Get To Kavos Beach
Kavos Beach is situated on the east coast of the southern end of Corfu and can be reached on foot, with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat, or by public transport.
By car, Kavos Beach is a 4-kilometer drive from the Port of Lefkimmi and 45 kilometers from Corfu Town. There is free street parking, but finding a space during the busy summer season can be a bit of a challenge, so you might end up having to walk a bit to the beach.
You can also get to Kavos Beach by public transport as Green Bus line B1 connects the village with Corfu Town. There are several bus stops along the main road through the village.
Beach Description
The largest part of Kavos Beach is oriented towards the northeastern direction, but there’s a small part in the south that is oriented towards the southeastern direction. On the horizon you can see the mainland of Greece.
The entire length of Kavos Beach is around 2 kilometers, of which 1.5 kilometers lies in front of the village, and the other 500 meters around the corner in the southeast. The average width of the beach is around 25 meters, making it one of the largest beaches on the island.
The beach and seabed are sandy and the seabed has a gentle slope, so the bathing water remains shallow for the first few meters. The main source of potential pollution comes from the large number of private boats mooring on the shore, but pollution problems due to fuel leaks are rare and usually short lived. In general, the water is very clear and calm, creating the perfect conditions for swimming and all sorts of water sports.
With the exception of the small part in the south, the entire coastline is developped with constructions, including all sorts of accommodations, restaurants and bars.
Kavos Beach is very popular, especially among younger generations who like to socialize and party. Kavos is known for its daytime beach parties and great nighlife. There is also some sparse vegetation, and on the southern part prevails dense and tall vegetation.
Facilities At Kavos Beach
Kavos Beach is organized and has all the amenities and facilities you can imagine of a popular beach resort. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, toilets, trash bins, and a large variety of beach bars and restaurants, some of which have a party atmosphere, while others are amore quiet and relaxing.
You can also find a large variety of water sports at Kavos Beach, including a variety of inflatable rides, jet skis, pedal boats, kayaks, peddle boards, and other fun activities. It’s also possible to rent small motor boats or go on an organized boat tour.
