Kalamaki Beach is a large sand beach in the village of Apraos, on the northeastern coast of Corfu. It is one of the largest beaches in the area and a popular holiday destination with numerous facilities.
How To Get To Kalamaki Beach
Kalamaki Beach is situated on Road Tzavrou-Kassiopi-Sidari in the village of Apraos and can be reached by foot from the village, or otherwise with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat, or by public transport.
By car, Kalamaki Beach is only a 5-kilometer drive away from Kassiopi, 19 kilometers from Sidari, and 44 kilometers from Corfu Town. A short, but steep road leads from the main road to the beach, where you can park for free. There’s also a small parking lot next to the road.
Green Bus line S5 connects Kalamaki Beach with Kassiopi and Sidari but only runs during the summer season. In both towns, you can take another bus to reach other destinations, including Corfu Town.
Beach Description
Kalamaki Beach is one of the larger beachs in Corfu and one of the few sand beaches in the north of the island. The beach has a length of 770 meters and a width varying between 20 and 60 meters.
The beach is oriented towards the northeast and looks out at the dramatic coastline of Albania, where you can also spot the increasingly polular beach town of Saranda. The surrounding area of the beach is also beautiful with hills and lots of green vegetation.
Kalamaki Beach and its seabed are sandy and the seabed has a very gentle slope making the first meters of the bathing water very shallow. This makes it also one of the most child friendly beaches on the island. With its ample space it also never gets too crowded so it’s an ideal beach for families with kids.
Facilities At Kalamaki Beach
Kalamaki Beach is organized and has numerous facilities including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, trash bins, and multiple beach bars and restaurants. There are also some beach and water activities like peddling boats and a floating water park.
