Ipsos Beach is a popular beach that stretches out in front of the villages of Ipsos and Kato Agios Markos on the west coast of central Corfu. The beach is a long, but narrow strip between the homonymous Ipsos Bay and the coastal road. Officially, the beach is divided into two parts, with the southern part, Ipsos 1 belonging to the village of Ipsos, and the northern part, Ipsos 2, belonging to Kato Agios Markos.
How To Get To Ipsos Beach
Ipsos Beach is located on Road 2217 Tzavrou-Kassiopi-Sidari and can therefore be easily reached with your own transportation like a rental car or scooter, or by public transport. From Corfu Town, it’s a 14-kilometer drive to Ipsos Beach and there’s free street parking along both sides of the main road.
To get to Ipsos Beach by public transport you can take Corfu City Bus line 7 or the long-distance Green Buses lines A4, A5, A12, or S6, which all stop next to the beach.
Beach Description
Ipsos Beach is oriented towards the southeast and stretches out along the bay over a length of 1.4 kilometers with an average width of 10 meters. The beach is mainly pebbled and the seabed has a gentle slope, and for the first few meters the water has a normal depth.
The beach only has some vegetation at both ends and rather has an urban character, due to the development of the coast with a road and many buildings across from the road. The water is very clear and perfect for swimming. The only potential source of pollution is from the number of motorized boats mooring at the beach and at the neigboring Ipsos Marina.
The beach is popular due to its easy accessibility and the presence of tourist infrastructure in its proximity, which include many holiday accommodations, restaurants and shops.
Facilities At Ipsos Beach
The major part of Ipsos Beach is organized and has several facilities, including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, beach bars, showers, and trash bins. Across from the road, there are plenty of shops, bakeries, restaurants, bars, and a few nightclubs.
There is also a variety of water sports available, including motor boat rental, inflatable rides, sand-up-paddling (SUP), and an inflatable waterpark.
