Iliodoros Beach, also known as Liniodoro Beach, is a virgin beach in a secluded bay near the village of Liapades, on the west coast of central Corfu. The beach is surrounded by an undeveloped, serene environment and is hard to reach and therefore quiet.
How To Get To Iliodoros Beach
Iliodoros Beach is situated in a secluded bay below the village of Liapades and can only be reached by boat, or overland by foot or a 4×4 vehicle.
By foot, Iliodoros is a 3-kilometer walk from Liapades, which can easily take between 1 and 1.5 hours. The walk is mostly downhill, which means that the way back is a tougher, uphill walk. But it is a beautiful hike through olive groves and other green areas, so if you’re in for some exercise in nature it’s an absolute recommendation.
Without a boat, the only other option to get to Iliodoros Beach is with a decent four-wheel drive. The road from the village starts asphalted but turns into a steep, unpaved road that gets worse the further you get. We definitely don’t recommend driving there with a normal (rented) car. Technically you could drive a part of the journey, but there’s very little space to park anywhere safely without obstructing the narrow road.
Beach Description
Iliodoros Beach is completely secluded in a bay surrounded by green hills. The beach and the surrounding coast are entirely natural, without any constructions.
The beach is oriented towards the northeastern direction and has a length of approximately 50 meters and an average width of around 25 meters. The beach and seabed are covered with pebbles. The seabed has a gentle slope and for the first few meters, the bathing water has a normal depth. The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Due to its remote location, Iliodoros Beach is lesser known and therefore a great escape from the crowds at other beaches. You’ll be in a completely serene environment at this beach.
If you’re up for a short hike, or a small detour if you already came here on foot, you can climb up the hill to the south of the beach. From the main path, there’s a small marked trail to the top of the hill, from where you have a spectacular view at Chomi Beach and some small coves underneath the rocky hill.
Facilities At Iliodoros Beach
Iliodoros Beach is unorganized and has no facilities at all, so you’ll have to bring your own supplies for a beach day. Bring at least plenty of water, because you can’t get anything to drink nearby.
