Glyfada Beach is the central beach in front of the homonymous village of Glyfada, a popular destination for beach holidays on the west coast of central Corfu. The beach is popular because it is sandy, has many amenities, and a decent nightlife.
How To Get To Glyfada Beach
Glyfada Beach is located right in front of the village of Glyfada and can be reached on foot, with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat, or by public transport.
By car, Glyfada Beach is an 18-kilometer drive from Corfu Town, which takes approximately 25 minutes. Some of the beach tavernas have a private parking space, but otherwise, you can probably find a space a bit further away along the road to the beach.
Green Bus line B17 connects Glyfada Beach with Corfu Town. The bus stop is about 150 meters from the beach.
Beach Description
Glyfada Beach is situated in a bay below beautiful green hills. The beach is oriented towards the southwestern direction and only has some shade in the early hours of the morning.
The beach has a length of approximately 900 meters and an average width of around 30 meters. The beach and seabed are mostly sandy, but there are some large limestone slabs at a small part of the beach.
The seabed has a gentle slope and the bathing water remains shallow for the first few meters. The water is very clear and beautifully turqoise, making it perfect for swimming.
The entire area behind the beach is developped with resort hotels, bars, and restaurants but the wider environment is very green and the surrounding hills give the beach somewhat seclusion.
Glyfada Beach is one of the more popular and well-known beaches in Corfu and can get rather busy in the summer, but the beach is spacious so you’ll always find some space to put your towel down.
Facilities At Glyfada Beach
Glyfada Beach is organized and has all the facilities you can expect from a busy beach resort. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, toilets, trash bins, and a large number of beach bars and restaurants.
Glyfada Beach also offers a variety of water sports, including jet skis and different inflatable rides. Boats for rent and boats trips are also offered from there.
