Giali Beach, also spelled as Gyali Beach or Yali Beach, is a beautiful virgin beach in a secluded bay near the village of Giannades, on the west coast of central Corfu. Being situated below high cliffs, it is one of the most spectacular beaches in the area, but the only safe way to reach it is by boat.
How To Get To Giali Beach
Giali Beach is situated about 1 kilometer southwest of Giannades, but its location below steep cliffs makes it very hard to reach overland, so the best way to get there safely is by boat.
To get to Giali Beach by boat, you can get a taxi boat from Ermones Beach, or even from Paleokastritsa which can bring you there and pick you up a few hours later. Another fun way is to rent a boat to explore the area and make stops at multiple beaches, coves, and sea caves. You can also book an organized boat tour with a stop at Giali Beach.
Overland, you can hike from Giannades to a viewpoint from where you have a spectacular view of the beach from above. The hike is 2.3 kilometers one-way.
If you have a private vehicle, like a rental car, or scooter, you can also drive to the Chapel of the Prophet Elias near the beach. Until there, the road is paved and there is plenty of space to park. From there, turn left on foot and simply follow the track until you reach the viewpoint.
On your way, you’ll see several signs warning of the dangers of unstable cliffs and the risk of falling, so we don’t recommend getting any further than the viewpoint, unless you’re a very experience hiker and wear appropriate footwear.
Beach Description
Giali Beach is a spectacularly beautiful beach in a stunning location below steep cliffs. The beach is secluded in a bay and is oriented towards the southwest.
The beach has a length of approximately 150 meters and an average width of 15 meters. The beach and seabed are covered by sand and small pebbles and some 0ccasional larger rocks. The seabed has a somewhat steep slope so the bathing water gets fairly deep quickly. The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
The coastline surrounding the beach is completely natural without any constructions. The golden sand of the beach, with the spectacular rocky hills with green vegetation in the background, and the perfect turquoise waters paint an unmatched picture of an exotic paradise.
The beach is great for sunbathing and swimming in a tranquil environment without too many people. The beach is therefore popular among nature lovers and couples seeking a romantic trip to a secluded beach.
Facilities At Giali Beach
Giali Beach is unorganized and has no facilities at all, so you’ll have to bring your own drinks, snacks, and other supplies if you make a boat trip there.
