Dassia Beach is a very popular beach in the homonymous seaside village of Dassia, on the east coast of central Corfu. The beach spans across the entire bay in front of the village and has all the amenities you need for a beach day.
How To Get To Dassia Beach
Dassia Beach is located very near the main road that crosses through Dassia village and can therefore be easily reached with your own transportation like a rental car or scooter, or by public transport.
By car, it’s a 12-kilometer drive from Corfu Town to Dassia Beach. Free street parking is available along the main road and on the side streets leading to the beach, however, during the busy summer season, you might have to search a bit for a free parking spot.
To get to Dassia Beach by public transport you can take Corfu City Bus line 7 and get off at the main street (No. 2217 Tzavrou-Kassiopi-Sidari) in Dassia, from where it’s a 200-meter walk to the beach. Several of the long-distance Green Buses (lines A4, A5, A12, and S6) also stop in Dassia.
Beach Description
Dassia Beach is oriented towards the east and stretches out over a length of more than 1.3 kilometers, with an average width of 10 meters. The beach is sandy with some pebbles and the beach bed has a gentle slope so for the first few meters the water is very shallow.
The beach can get very busy as it is almost completely organized but there are still plenty of places where you can put your own towel down. Although there are a lot of hotels and restaurants along the beach, there is also still a lot of vegetation.
The water is very clear and great for swimming. The only potential form of pollution comes from the increasing number of private boats mooring at the beach, but pollution is very rare and short lived.
Facilities At Dassia Beach
Dassia Beach is organized and almost entirely exploited by hotels and restaurants which means there are plenty of facilities, including beach beds and umbrellas for rent, beach bars, restaurants, showers, toilets, and waste bins. There is also a variety of water sports available, including inflatable rides, kayaks, pedal boats, and parasailing.
On the main road in Dassia you can also find many more restaurants, bars, shops, and bakeries.
