Chouchoulio Beach, also spelled as Houhoulio Beach, is a lesser-known and undeveloped beach in the homonymous Chouchoulio Bay on the east coast of northern Corfu. The beach is a real hidden gem surrounded by unspoiled nature.
How To Get To Chouchoulio Beach
Chouchoulio Beach is located off Road 2217 Tzavrou-Kassiopi-Sidari near Kalami and can be easily reached with your own transportation like a rental car or scooter, or by public transport.
From Corfu Town, it’s a 29-kilometer drive to Chouchoulio Beach. From the main road, you have to take the exit to Kouloura and then take the first left to get to the beach where you can park for free.
To get to Chouchoulio Beach by public transport, you can take Green Bus line A4 or A12 which both stop at the exit of the main road (bus stop Kalami-Kouloura), from where it’s an 850-meter walk to the beach.
Beach Description
Chouchoulio Beach is oriented towards the east and stretches out along the bay over a length of about 130 meters with an average width of approximately 10 meters. The beach and seabed mostly consist of fine pebbles and the seabed has a gentle slope. For the first few meters the bathing water is rather shallow.
The beach is surrounded by dense vegetation, which gives it a hidden character and a relaxing natural vibe. The only visible development is the Kouloura Harbor at the southern end of the bay. The only potential source of pollution comes from boats anchored there or from boats mooring at the beach, but this rarely affects the water quality.
Although Chouchoulio Beach is nice, there is a much more beautiful beach nearby, that can only be reached by foot or with a boat. From the northern end of Chouchoulio Beach a 400-meter-long trail leads you to Psathopoulou Beach, which is totally secluded and unspoiled.
Facilities At Chouchoulio Beach
Chouchoulio Beach is unorganized and has no facilities at all, so there are no sunbeds and you’d have to take your own food and drinks. The nearest restaurant is located at the Kouloura Harbor. More restaurants and shops can be found in Kalami.
