The Cavalieri Hotel is a modern 4-star hotel in a historic building facing Spianada Square in Corfu Town. The monumental house is also known as the Georgios Rallis Mansion, after the former politician who lived there in his early days.
The building was constructed as a mansion of the noble ancestors of Count Flamburiari in the 17th century. Throughout the centuries, the mansion became known as a meeting place for politicians, writers, actors, poets, and other noble people. In the early 20th century, the descendants of the noble and political Rallis family lived in the building, including Georgios Rallis (1918-2006), who grew up there. The young Rallis went on to become an important politician as well and served as the Prime Minister of Greece from 1980 to 1981.
In the late 1960s, the monumental building opened its doors as one of the top luxury hotels in Corfu. Nowadays, the Cavalieri Hotel is a 4-star hotel with an amazing rooftop restaurant overlooking the Old Fortress and the Ionian Sea.
