Alipa Beach is one of the beaches in the popular seaside village of Paleokastritsa, on the west coast of central Corfu. The beach is situated in a bay at the foot of the Palaiochora Peninsula.
How To Get To Alipa Beach
Alipa Beach is centrally located next to Alipa Port. It can easily be reached on foot from other parts of the village, or from further away with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat, or by public transport.
By car, Agios Spiridon Beach is a 23-kilometer drive from Corfu Town. There’s free parking near the beach.
The nearest bus stop is on the main road through the village, just a short walk away. Green Bus lines A9 and A10 connect Paleokastritsa with Corfu Town and line S6, which only runs during the summer months, with Nissaki.
Beach Description
Alipa Beach is situated in the same bay as the Alipa Port. The beach is oriented towards the eastern direction and looks out at the motor boats, luxury yachts, and other vessels moored in the marina.
The beach has a length of approximately 90 meters and a width varying between 5 and 25 meters. The beach consists of sand and fine pebbles. The seabed has a gentle slope and for the first few meters the bathing water has a normal depth.
The beach has an urban character and the area around the beach is developed with the port, a road, and other constructions, but from the beach you also look out on the beautiful scenery of the coastline with hills and green vegetation. Alipa Beach is very popular, but not so extremely crowded as other beaches in Paleokastritsa.
The only source of potential pollution comes from the boats mooring at Alipa Port, but this is rare and usually short lived. In general, the bathing water is very clear and perfectly suitable for swimming.
Facilities At Alipa Beach
Alipa Beach is organized and has several facilities, including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, trash bins, and a bar-restaurant. In close proximity you can also find several more bars and restaurants.
Boat rental is also available at the beach and the adjacent port is the starting point of boat trips and other activities, including a submarine ride and scuba diving excurions.
