Alkinoos Harbor is the archaeological site of a harbor of the ancient city of Paleopolis, located on the Kanoni peninsula of Corfu Town.
Nowadays, there is not much left to see of the Alkinoos Harbor other than a few stones scattered around a grass field that is easily overlooked when passing by. However, the ruins date back as far as the 5th century BC, and the harbor played an important role in the defense of the city as it was fortified and initially only served for military purposes before also becoming a commercial port.
The Alkinoos Harbor was located to the north of Paleopolis, in the area that is now Garitsa Bay. It was one of the two ports of the ancient city, with the other, the Hyllaikos harbor, located on the western side where the airport is now located at the Halikiopoulou Lagoon.
Another part of the Alkinoos Harbor can be found at the Church of Saint Athanasius, which was built on the foundations of one of the harbor’s defense towers.
