Giannis Olive Wood Art Workshop, located near the village of Felekas, is one of the largest olive wood shops in Corfu. In the workshop, you can learn how olive wood is handcrafted into the most beautiful products, and in the shop, you can find a wide variety of their products to take home as a souvenir.
The wood crafter Giannis opened the workshop in 1994 to fulfill his dream of having his own shop and the family business is still thriving today. The wood they use comes from olive trees around the island that have been trimmed, after which the trees grow new branches that produce olives. So trees are never completely cut and can continue growing for hundreds, if not thousands of years. So olive wood is a very sustainable product.
Another advantage of olive wood is that once it has been dried, it becomes very hard and almost unbreakable. The distinguishing grains of olive wood also make every product unique.
The shop sells all kinds of kitchen utensils, household products, toys like miniature cars and motorcycles, decorative items, art pieces, religious icons, and many other products. They also sell a selection of other olive tree products, like olive oil and soap.
