Beach Description
Issos Beach is arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in Corfu due to its location near the Korission Lagoon and its unique characteristics with endless space, yellow sand, and beautiful dunes overlooking the lagoon, the beach and the Ionian Sea.
The beach is oriented towards the south and southwest and has no shade at all, so make sure to bring your sun protection. The beach stretches out across a bay over a length of approximately 2.4 kilometers and has an average width of around 30 meters, making it one of the largest beaches on the island.
The beach and seabed are completely sandy and the seabed has a gentle slope. For the first few meters, the bathing water has a normal depth. The water is clear blue and relatively calm, making it perfect for swimming.
Behind the beach are large dunes with some sparse shrubby vegetation (mostly junipers). It’s definitely worth taking a walk through the dunes for the breathtaking views of the beautiful surroundings. Behind the dunes you can see the Korission Lagoon. The entire area is a protected reserve and the natural habitat of flamingos and migratory birds.
