Kontogialos Beach, also known as Pelekas Beach, is located in the seaside village of Avramis, near Pelekas, on the west coast of central Corfu. The beach is sandy and is beautifully situated in a bay surrounded by green hills.
Kontogialos Beach is a somewhat more tranquil alternative to the nearby Glyfada Beach but still has all the amenities of a beach resort.
How To Get To Kontogialos Beach
Kontogialos Beach is located about 1 kilometer south of the historic village of Pelekas and can be reached on foot, or with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat.
By car, Kontogialos Beach is a 2-kilometer drive from Pelekas, 5 kilometers from Glyfada, and 13 kilometers from Corfu Town.
Unfortunately, there is no public transport to Kontogialis Beach.
Beach Description
Kontogialos Beach is situated in a bay surrounded by beautiful green hills. The beach is oriented towards the southwestern direction and the hills provide some shade, but only in the early hours of the morning.
The beach has a length of approximately 560 meters and an average width of around 25 meters. The beach is sandy and the seabed has a gentle slope, so for the first few meters, the bathing water remains shallow. The water is calm and very clear so it’s perfect for swimming.
Kontogialos is popular because it’s sandy and has beautiful surroundings and perfect turquoise-colored waters. The beach has all the amenities you need but it’s spacious and slightly less crowded than neighboring Glyfada Beach. It’s therefore perfect for couples and families with kids.
Facilities At Kontogialos Beach
Kontogialos Beach is organized and has many facilities including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, toilets, and trash bins. Several beach bars and restaurants operate along the beach and there’s a small supermarket nearby.
There’s also a variety of water sports available, including peddle boards, kayaks, and pedal boats. On the southern end of the beach, there’s a small harbor.
