Ermones Beach is the beach in front of the homonymous village of Ermones, on the west coast of central Corfu. The beach is situated in a bay, giving it a somewhat secluded character.
How To Get To Ermones Beach
Ermones Beach is centrally located right in front of the village of Ermones and can be reached on foot, by cable car, with a private vehicle, like a rental car, or scooter, or by public transport.
If you are staying at the Atlantica Grand Mediterraneo Resort, you probably have an amazing sea view as the luxury resort is built on the slopes of the hill behind the beach. But to get to and from the beach you don’t have to walk all the way down and back up the zigzagging road, as you can simply take the funicular that connects the resort hotel directly with the beach.
By car, Ermones Beach is a 15-minute drive from Corfu Town. There is some space to park alongside the road that runs parallel to the beach. Alternatively, there is also some private parking at the beach tavernas on the other side of the small river stream.
To get to Ermones Beach by public transport, you can take Green Bus line B16, which connects the village with Corfu Town. The bus stop is about 500 meters from the beach, on the corner of Road 2213 and the road towards the beach.
Beach Description
Ermones Beach is situated in front of the quiet village of Ermones, in a bay surrounded by hills and a lot of green vegetation, including tamarisk trees. The beach is oriented towards the southwestern direction. The hills behind the beach only provide some shade during the morning hours.
The beach has a length of approximately 230 meters and a varying width between 10 and 35 meters. The beach and seabed have a combination of sand and pebbles.
The seabed has a gentle slope and for the first few meters, the bathing water has a normal depth. The only source of pollution comes from the small stream that flows into the sea at the beach and from boats mooring into the bay, but this is rare and usually short lived. In general, the water is very clear and perfect for swimming.
Ermones Beach has a tranquil vibe with a mostly natural environment, but with the amenities you can expect from a beach resort. The beach is mostly popular among couples and families with children.
For a beautiful view at the beach, you can take a stroll in the northern direction, along the path that follows the coast. There is also a trail that leads to an old abandoned chapel.
Facilities At Ermones Beach
Ermones Beach is organized and has many facilities, including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, toilets, and trash bins. You can get food and drinks at several tavernas that operate along the beach.
There are also some water sports available at Ermones Beach, including peddle boards, kayaks, and pedal boats. Boat trips to other beaches are also offered, for example to the virgin beaches of Antipsos and Giali.
