Agios Spiridon Beach in Perithia, not to be confused with Agios Spiridon Beach in Paleokastritsa, is a sandy beach near the Antinioti Lagoon, just outside the village of Karniaris, on the northeastern coast of Corfu. The beach is named after the Church of Agios Spiridon located at the beach.
How To Get To Agios Spiridon Beach In Perithia
Agios Spiridon Beach is located about 1 kilometer off Road 2217 Tzavrou-Kassiopi-Sidari, outside the village of Karniaris, and can best be reached with a private vehicle, like a rental car, scooter, or boat. Getting there by public transport is not ideal, but not impossible.
By car, Agios Spiridon Beach is a 5.5-kilometer drive from Acharavi, 8 kilometers from Kassiopi, and about 43 kilometers from Corfu Town. The beach is accessible by road and you can park for free alongside the road.
The only public transport option to Agios Spiridon Beach is to take Green Bus line S5 between Kassiopi and Sidari, which passes by on Road 2217 Tzavrou-Kassiopi-Sidari (only during the summer season. From there you’ll have to walk to the beach.
Beach Description
Agios Spiridon Perithia Beach is located on the northeastern coast of Corfu and is oriented towards the northeastern direction, looking out on the dramatic coastline of Albania on the horizon. Behind the beach is the Antinioti Lagoon, a protected nature reserve with a unique biodiversity.
The entire coast has a length of about 500 meters, but the actual beach is split up in two parts by a rocky area. The western section has a length of approximately 150 meters and an average width of about 10 meters. The eastern section is smaller with an approximate length of 50 meters and an average width between 5 and 10 meters. The coastline has some vegetation, including trees that provide some shade.
On the westen end of the beach there’s a small bridge across the mouth of the Antinioti Lagoon to the island that is separated from the mainland by the lagoon. A dirt road leads to two more beaches: Gialiskari Beach and Antinioti West Beach. There’s also a marked hiking path around the seashore of the peninsula.
Facilities At Agios Spiridon Beach
Agios Spiridon Perithia Beach is organized and has several facilities, including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, and trash bins. There are also a few bars and restaurants that operate along the beach and you can rent pedal boats.
