Kalamionas Beach is one of the urban beaches in the popular seaside village of Kassiopi, in the northeast of Corfu. The beach is situated in Imeriolas Bay at the foot of Kassiopi Castle.
How To Get To Kalamionas Beach
Kalamionas Beach stretches out between the main through road 2217 Tzavrou-Kassiopi-Sidari and the hill with the castle and can be reached by foot, with a private vehicle like a rental car, scooter, or boat, or by public transport.
By foot, Kalamionas Beach is only a few minutes walk from the center of Kassiopi. If you’re coming from Corfu Town, it’s a 36-kilometer drive, but this can easily take an hour or more depending on traffic. There’s free roadside parking along the main road.
There’s also a bus stop nearby, which serves Green Bus lines A4 and A12 between Kassiopi and Corfu Town.
Beach Description
Kalamionas Beach is situated in the Imeriolas Bay and is oriented towards the western direction. The beach has a length of 200 meters and an average width of about 5 meters. The beach and seabed are covered with small pebbles. The seabed has a relatively deep slope so the bathing water is alread fairly deep within the first few meters.
The beach has an urban character due to its developed surroundings. The only potential source of pollution comes from boats sailing through the bay and docking on the quay on the opposite side of the bay.
Facilities At Kalamionas Beach
Kalamionas Beach is organized and has several facilities, including sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, showers, and trash bins. For food and drinks, there are several restaurants around the beach and many more can be found in the streets leading to the center of Kassiopi.
