Agios Nikolaos Beach is a small unorganized beach near Dassia, on the eastern coast of central Corfu. The beach is named after the Church of Saint Nicholas (Agios Nikolaos) and has a secluded character, due to the dense vegetation surrounding it.
How To Get To Agios Nikolaos Beach
Agios Nikolaos Beach is located just outside the village of Dassia and is easily accessible with your own transportation like a rental car or scooter, or by public transport.
By car, it’s a 1.5-kilometer drive from the center of Dassia and 11 kilometers from Corfu Town. Free parking is available at the beach. To get there by public transport, you can take Corfu City Bus line 7 and get off at bus stop 730 (or 739 in the opposite direction) on the main road (no. 2217 Tzavrou-Kassiopi-Sidari). From there it’s a 650-meter walk to the beach.
Beach Description
Agios Nikolaos Beach is oriented towards the eastern direction and has a length of 350 meters and an average width of 10 meters. The beach consists of sand, pebbles, and rocks and the sea bed has a gentle slope so for he first few meters the water is shallow.
The coastal zone is a natural site and, with the exception of the construction of a church, it’s free from human intervention. Therefore, the beach has a serene environment with olive trees, sycamore trees, and other vegetation. Due to the lack of development it’s usually quiet.
Facilities At Agios Nikolaos Beach
Agios Nikolaos Beach is unorganized and has no facilities at all, so there are no sun beds for rent and you’d need to take your own food and drinks. There are however, plenty of restaurants and shops nearby in Dassia.
