The Anthropograva Cave is located on the north side of Loukia Hill in the village of Klimatia in the northern part of Corfu. The cave is situated at an altitude of 270 meters, about 600 meters from the town center of the village.
The Anthropograva Cave is always open and can be visited for free. This also means that exploring the cave is at your own risk, so be very careful when entering and make sure to wear appropriate footwear as it can be slippery. There is a small parking area from where it’s a 100-meter walk to the entrance of the cave.
The entrance is about 2.5 meters high and 4 meters wide. The first area is a 7-meter-long passage that goes downhill. This section is 11 meters wide and 3 meters high. At the end of this passage, you get into a large chamber with a 20-meter width, a 27-meter length, and a varying height between 0.5 and 2 meters.
The entire cave has a slight slope from left to right and can be divided into two sections. In the left part, with the low ceiling, you can see small columns and stalagmites. In the right part, you can see large stalagmites, the largest of which has a height of 2.5 meters and resembles the Tower of Pisa.
The cave must have been inhabited in the past, as archaeological evidence has been found in the form of archaic pottery, a Byzantine coin, and man-made tools.
