The museum opened its doors in 1993 and has since housed a permanent collection of Modern Greek art dating from the early days of Greek independence until today.
Among the permanent collection of the Corfu Annex of the National Gallery are works of Georgios Avlichos, Yannis Moralis, Domenicos Theotokopoulos, Yannis Tsarouchis, Konstantinos Perhenis, and Nicos Engonopoulos. The works include paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and other art installations.
